planting some roots

I had a Relief Society lesson a while back about attending our own ward (rather than ward hopping like most students do). The teacher told us to, "plant some roots, so that we can enjoy the fruits." Jason and I took it a bit literally. We are planting a garden.

Actually, we are helping Mom and Dad Hall with their garden. Together, we are going to have one huge garden and hopefully a big harvest. Jason is so excited for all of the vegetables, but I am mostly looking forward to the corn. Yum.

Jason and I don't know anything when it come to gardening, so we are lucky to have the help of some experts (Anthony and CeCille). For family home evening, we began planting. It was an educational experience for us all. Jason didn't know how to plant potatoes. I had no idea that their was poison on the seeds of corn (that is why they are pink). You learn something new every day.
While we were there, my brother's family came over. Trevor ran right out to help us plant. He was a little disappointed that there really wasn't much for him to help with. So, he played with his loader tractor in the garden telling us that he was going to dig big holes to plant seeds. He was a funny boy. While we were hard at work, I got a little carried away with taking pictures. I just thought that this place just looked so beautiful that evening.
We were not able to accomplish all that we had intended to, because it began to rain. We planted some red potatoes, a few rows of corn, and carrots. Mom had already planted the onions and peas, and they are already coming up. We'll be planting the rest later. For now, we are waiting the seeds to take root so that we can "enjoy the fruit."

That sounds like so much fun, what a good idea for FHE! I was actually thinking of doing the same thing at my Mom and Dad's house!
