Turning 2

We went to a two year check up with our new doctor.  Beckham got a shot, which he did not even cry once.   What a big boy!  Here are the stats from the check up.
Height - 35.4 inches - 75th percentile
Weight - 30 lbs 6 oz - 75th percentile
Head Circumference - 19.5 inch - 75th percentile (way down from where we were last time)

And, here is what he is up to these days.
*Beckham talks our ears off.  He has a lot to say and is learning new words every day.  Some of my favorites are "Hoooney," .....  One word we could do without is "Nooooo."  He says that one with a scowl in a whinny voice.

*This boy has turned into a picky eater.  It is all I can do to get the boy to eat.  His favorite foods are PB&J sandwiches, cheese, oatmeal (he calls it O-meal), and just about any fruit.
*We have a clean boy.  Beckham doesn't like sticky hands, out of place toys or household items, or play-do (I guess its too squishy).  Hopefully this cleanliness lasts.

*Beckham is a social butterfly.  He likes playing with other children and is quite friendly.  However, the mere thought of nursery scares him to death.  We do have a difficult time sharing, but with a bit encouragement, he plays quite well with others.
*Beckham loves to read.  A lot.  He actually has enjoyed reading ever since we brought him home from the hospital (2 years ago!), but recently he has become a complete bookworm.  Some days he request that I read to him, and when I finally look at the clock, I realize that we have been reading for an hour!  Those are the days that it is a little too much for me.   His favorite reads are: Marvel Superhero book, A Fish Out Of Water, Old McDonald had a Farm, and Brown Bear Brown Bear.  Recently, he likes to pretend read to himself out loud.
* Beckham still loves his binkie. Although he doesn't require it as much (he is a talker!), and it will be taken away quite soon.
* I have caught Beckham playing pretend quite a bit lately.  It makes me happy to see his imagination, and it make me laugh to see him imitate and mirror Jason and me.  His favorite activity is to talk on the play cell phones.  He runs - literally runs - all over the house with the phone pressed to his ear while jabbering away. Most of the time he is yelling into the phone (maybe Jason and I need to tone our voices down on the phone) and randomly he will burst into laughter.

* He loves rough housing with daddy. These two boys have so much fun together.

* As of a few months ago, our boy decided that superheroes are the best. Beckham is obsessed! We talk about them all. the. time. He has a few action figures that he cannot live without. Jason even printed out pictures of some of them, and Beckham lines them up to visit with them. It is quite comical to watch. Literally. Funny boy!

* Beckham is a smart boy. He is very good at doing puzzles and is learning his colors. Recently he began counting. He likes to count his animals, random house items, bath toys, books, and superheroes. He says, "Ond, two, free, six, nine, ten!"

*Kisses make everything better.  For the most part, he requests only mom to kiss his "owies" better, which makes me smile.  Sometimes when he is playing by himself and he gets a small "owie," he kisses his arm, leg, or hand himself.
We love this boy to pieces and are enjoying every new thing he does.  He makes our little family so happy.

Jason's birthday #27

Beckham still thinks that it is his birthday.  The whole idea of Daddy having his own birthday rocked his world a little bit, and it took a little convincing.  By the end of the day, I think Beckham was okay with the whole idea.

This year we actually celebrated Jason's birthday a day before the big day.  We had a special dinner of steak and shrimp (my first time cooking them!) per his request.  It's kind of a big deal to make this kind of a dinner because the stakes are a bit high.  My husband loves steak and shrimp with his whole soul and it was his birthday!
Jason's family came over to celebrate with us.  Beckham was sure that they were there for him and his birthday.  He loved being the center of attention.  We had Jason's usual ice cream cake and he blew out candles in the shape of 2-7.

For his birthday, Jason requested that his gifts be things that he could play with Beckham.  Isn't he sweet?!  Some of his gifts included nerf guns and the Spider-Man movie.  Beckham thought these were fantastic and immediately named them "mine!"  These boys are already enjoying the toys.
Unfortunately, Jason had to work the very next day on his birthday and things went on as usual.  We are certain though that we are the luckiest to have Jason in our lives!

5 years

A mere three days after Beckham's birthday, Jason and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary.  Jason sent a beautiful bouquet of flowers to me (how sweet!), and we shared a delicious dinner that night in Twin Falls.  It is crazy to think about how much has changed for us, but of this I am certain, I am happy to have been with Jason these last five years.

birthday #2

On Saturday we began celebrating Beckham's birthday. He is 2!
We had a nice little party Saturday night and Beckham was delighted to have some fun visitors. Grandma and Grandpa Hall came. We also had our Nanna, aunts, and Kayson and Kyler there.

He was spoiled rotten with gifts
and we enjoyed a superhero cake. It was a perfect night.

Beckham's actual birthday was less than eventful. Dad went to work, and mom and Beckham stayed at home playing. To be fair, Beckham got his way all day long. We even had "black juice" -- root beer -- for breakfast. Beckham also requested pancakes, toast, o-meal, Cheetos, fruit snacks, candy, and cereal for lunch. Yeah. That didn't happen.

We opened a few more gifts, ate leftover cake, and sang Happy Birthday countless times. It was a good day.  However, we did end the day with Beckham throwing a tantrum in his new batman pajamas because he could not bear the thought of going to bed. I guess that means he thought his second birthday was fun.
