Christmas 2012

I had a wonderful Christmas with my two boys.   What fun!

Jason and I were both very excited for Beckham's first Christmas.  We spent this year with our family in Idaho and we loved every minute of it!  We loved visiting all of our family and were so grateful that we could spend four days with them all.   Can we do that again soon?!  We sure hope so.  Here are some of the many highlights of the trip.

*I have to share....Jason's sister, Jessica, made me this adorable orniment for our tree.  I love it!  It really has been a memorable Christmas season with our little boy.  It was such a thoughtful gift.

 * This is Beckham with his Bumpa and Nanna.  He sure loves them and we wish we could see them more.

 * So Beckham tried out he Bumbo while we were up there.  Umm...he is a fan.  No more of this laying down stuff.  He loves to sit up and see everyone and everything.  Oh no!  He is growing too fast.

 * All of us went to church on Sunday and enjoyed a beautiful Christmas program.  Here is in his Sunday best.
 * The cousins.  Beckham loves his cousins.  It is so funny to watch the interaction between all of them.  His cousin, Kyler, is only a few months older than Beckham and is really starting to take a liking to him.  They are so funny together!  I love that Beckham has cousins close to his age.  It is so fun to see.
*On Christmas Eve, we went to a live nativity in an old barn. Beckham slept through the whole thing.  Jason and I watch the production, which was so good.  I was particularly happy to watch this on Christmas Eve.  It reminded us all of the true meaning of Christmas and what is really all about.
* Santa came!  Beckham decided that he couldn't wait and was wide awake at about 5:00 in the morning.  So we were clearly the first ones up.  Sorry to all those that we woke up!  By the time everyone else was awake, Beckham was down for a nap, so he missed most of the present opening.  He really didin't know what to make of the toys, but he loves them all now.  He got really spoiled, as did Jason and me.

And just like that, it was over.  We left that afternoon.  Our very short four day came and went.  Jason and I had to work the next day.  Sad! The whole Christmas season flew by all too fast this year.

* On our way home, we made a quick stop to see Uncle Courtney who was here for the holidays from Washington D.C.  We enjoyed seeing you!
Now we are home, and the Christmas tree is down.  Somehow every year, the Christmas season gets shorter and shorter.  But, each and every year, I am reminded just how blessed my little family is and what a wonderful time of year that it is.  This year was particularly special because our sweet Beckham was with us.

Hall Christmas Party 2012

Beckham enjoyed his first Christmas party with our family.  He was so excited to see his cousins (minus Jennah....We sure missed you!).  It was a fun party complete with a nativity, carolling, treats, and gift giving.  What a wonderful day to spend with everyone.

For Beckham's first Nativity, he played the roll of baby Jesus.  What a special roll to play! I thoroughly enjoyed watching the nativity.  I think this is my favorite tradition that we do at Christmas time.  I love the reminder of what this season is all about.

And, we caroled to neighbors and family.  Such fun!  Beckham slept through the whole thing.  Maybe he will enjoy it next year.
So Dad was in charge of the laundry last week.  I guess he wanted Beckham with him the whole time.

photo shoot

My very talented cousin did a photo shoot for us.  I was so happy to finally have some professional pictures of my sweet boy and our family.  Here are just a few from the day.

Such a fun day.  Thank Georgana!

story time

We had a special visitor tonight.  Story time is so much more fun when cousin Kayson is there!  (Notice that Beckham is clasping Kayson's hand)

3 months

Beckham is now 3 months old!  Can you believe it?

*Beckham is interacting so much more with Jason and me.  I love it!  He is quite a little jabber.  He coos and makes noices all the time.  He just loves to talk.  He is also beginning to giggle.  So fun!

*Beckham is now sleeping between 9 and 9 1/2 hours at night.  Yay!

*Beckham is still sleeping in our room, but is now in his Pack-n-Play.  He quickly outgrew the bassinet.  Lately, he has taking a liking to laying on Mom and Dad's bed in the morning while tries to wake up, which is nice for Jason and me while we get ready for work.

*Speaking of sleep, Beckham has been rubbing his eyes lately with his fists when he is tired, particularly at night.  I thought is was so cute at first until I noticed that his was scratching himself.   Ever since, we have had a little bit of a problem with him scratching his face.  Each time I see a scratch, I tell Beckham, "That's a naughty boy."  To which he responds with a grin.

*Beckham clenches his fists.  All the time.  I think it is funny how he does it though.  Beckham always places his thumb between his first and second fingers.

*I thoroughly enjoy seeing my boy grow.  Beckham is now reaching for things.  He concentrates so hard on the object and reaches his clenched fists up to touch it.  He becomes a little disgrutled by the unfortunate fact that he can't grab it object and put it in his mouth.  Somehow though, he has managed to successfully grab, hold on to, and put Mommy's hair into his mouth.

*Just like all babies, Beckham learns about new things by putting them in his mouth.  However, he has been trying to stuff his fist, in its entirety, into his mouth.  He has been doing this ever since he discovered his hands.  I guess he things they are yummy.

*Beckham is starting to play with his toys.  Mom helps him put toys in his fists and he brings them up to his face to look at and try to eat.  He still loves to read and is content to look at the pictures and listen to Mom read a book to him.  I honestly love our story time together.

*The hugs.  Since going back to work, I have noticed that Beckham gives me and Jason little hugs at night we we are home.  After my first day of work, I brought Beckham home and was holding him while doing various things around the house.  It wasn't until Jason pointed it out that I realized that Beckham had both arms streched out around my shoulders.  He was burrowing his face into my neck.  He took a few long deep breaths while nestled there for a few minutes.  It was if he as simply saying, "I missed ya." It completely melted my heart!  What a sweet boy!
Time is flying with this little guy.  He is growing up so fast and Jason and I are so happy that he is part of our lives.

going back

Well, my 12 weeks are up.  I head back to work tomorrow.  I honestly didn't think that this would be difficult at all.  Sure I can go back to work.  No problem!  I thought.  Then Beckham came.  Wow! This is a lot harder than I thought it would be!  I'm sure going to miss this little one.   Being a mommy is just too much fun!

I just love this guy to pieces and feel so blessed to have had these 12 wonderful weeks with him. What a simple joy.
