Memorial Day weekend 2013

We visited Nanna this weekend and had lots of fun for Memorial Day.  It was so nice to not rush and enjoy an extra long weekend.  On Sunday we visited the cemetery to put flowers on graves.  I love this part of the holiday and Beckham seemed to enjoy it too.

We also did a little working in the yard and on the car,
P.S.  We found out that Beckham was NOT a fan of the 4-wheeler.  He was a little scared.  Jason sure hopes that changes soon.
a little fire-pit digging  (Jason is one hard worker.  He got this hole dug super fast!  He's cool like that.  Just saying.)

and enjoying,
and a little playing in the yard. It was nice to just be outside.  The weather was fantastic and Beckham couldn't get enough of being outside.  It was wonderful.

Beckham thought he was such a big boy to sleep in the crib at Nanna's.  He particularly enjoyed waking up to such fun toys in the crib.  It makes our house seem a little dull.  He was content for a long time to just sit in the crib (that never happens at our house!).

But don't let me fool you.  We all relaxed and napped.  I will spare you the lovely pictures of me and my bed head.  Beckham thought it was so nice to be in PJ's late into the morning.  He's used to me rushing him along so that I can make it to work.  It was nice to relax and enjoy being all together.
As a side note, we found out on this trip that Beckham sure likes the big boy food.  He loved eating off of everyone's plate.  Thanks for sharing!  And, we sure didn't mind eating the French fries at Denny's.  How exciting!
Simply said; It was an enjoyable weekend.  Just nice.

8 months

Beckham turned 8 months last week. He is growing so fast! Since I didn't make it around to posting about what he was up to a 7 months, I have to catch up a little. So, here is what we have been up to these past two months. Apologies for the length. I do need to document these things though.

*Beckham is a happy, sweet boy. It is so fun to see his personality begin to come out. He is quite a teaser! We love every bit about him.
*We have swaddled Beckham since the day he was born. I really liked it. Unfortunately, Beckham has decided that he is too big for that. He would kick out of it so fast. Now, Jason and I have stopped doing that all together.
*Beckham has learned to wave and clap. He loves to show off and do these things when other people are watching. It is like he is saying, "Hey! Watch me!"  He loves being the center of attention.
*He found his toes. So interesting.

*Up until now, church had been wonderful with Beckham. Well he has found that if he is loud, the big chapel echoes back. What fun! The last few weeks have been a battle to keep reminding this one to be reverent.

*It probably doesn't help that Beckham absolutely hates wearing ties. And, I don't blame him!  He lets me know about it when I dress him. He is sure a good sport to cooperate and wear one each Sunday.

*This boy loves to be outside. One of his favorite things to do outside is to swing. It is such fun.
*One funny thing we have found out is that Beckham likes to watch little video clips on our phones of himself. If it is about anyone or anything else, he is disinterested. It makes me laugh to see him so excited to watch himself.

*Beckham loves play time. When I am home, I usually set his bin of toys in front of him on the floor. He immediately dumps out the toys and fishes for his favorite ones. He takes a quick look at each toy and if it is not a favorite he throws it. This continues on until a favorite toy is found. So funny! He can sure make a mess quick.
*That being said, Beckham thinks balls are great! Dad is so proud.
*As fun as the toys are, they do not compare to the non-toy items, like the mail, Dad's homework, or the laundry basket. He is mischief for sure! I am in trouble when he gets moving around.

*Thank goodness this boy has not figured out the crawling thing yet. He is getting so close though! Beckham can scoot backwards, but he does not prefer to move this way. He can get up on his knees while on his belly but only for a short moment. I know that one day soon he will take off.
*Beckham has, however, figured out that he can move in the walker. Mostly backwards.

*We have a pretty good eater on our hands.  Beckham has learned a new way  to tell us he is done with the food. He has  recently begun spitting it back at us. This has got to stop.

*Beckham has been grabbing everything. His favorite things to grab hold of and not let go include: hair, any excess skin (ouch!), and earrings. It makes me a little nervous when others hold him. This is not the best way to make friends.

*Story time is something Beckham loves. It makes me happy because I love it too! He likes to choose the stories after I set a stack next to our chair. He picks one up and hold it until I open it. He leans back against me while I read the book. Sometimes I look down at him and notice that he will randomly smile at certain pages. Cute.

*Recently, Beckham learned how to give raspberry kisses. You know. He plants his mouth on your cheek and blows. It's pretty funny and he thinks so too! I just love those big slobbery kisses.
He is a fun boy and we are oh-so happy to have him in our family.

We had a wonderful Mother's Day together. I love this little one to pieces and am so happy to be his mom.

a visit to Burley

Jason finished his finals on Friday! Yay! With the need to celebrate, we headed to Jason's beloved homeland to visit our family for the weekend.  Jason and Beckham packed us up and off we went!

We were all so happy to be with our family, especially Beckham.  He was completely spoiled with attention!  He loved spending time with Aunt Jayme, Bumpa, and Nanna.
Beckham played and played and played!  There were so many fun toys to discover.  Such fun!  He was a huge fan of the rocking horse.  Looks like we may have a little cowboy at heart.
We took a few naps because playing can wear a boy out!  And, sometimes we didn't even make it to the bed and fell fast asleep right on the floor....
We all did a little work in the yard and Beckham helped by playing in the stroller. It was so, so beautiful outside. It was wonderful to be working out in the gorgeous weather. And, we made some progress in the yard.
So bath time at Bumpa and Nanna's house is at least 10 times funner than at home. He LOVED it.  At one point he had goggles on and was swimming up and down the bathtub trying to stuff as many toys in his mouth as humanly possible.
We had our first grill of the season. Yum!

We went to church, which was quite a battle with Beckham this week.  He would not be very reverent.  Nanna was the only one who was even able to get him to close his eyes for a few minutes to rest.  However, those blessed silent minutes did not last too long.  He just wanted to play!  Which we let him do outside after the meeting.
Thank goodness for a little get-a-way. We needed it before Jason started his summer semester on Monday. Thanks for a great weekend!

a promotion

This handsome guy just got a big job promotion.  We are oh-so excited!  We had been hoping and praying for this for a long time and he got it.  Yay for the new adventures that lay ahead for us!
Way to go honey!
