two weeks

We had a two week check up yesterday.  Our little boy is doing great!

Weight: 8 lbs 5 oz - 40th percentile

Height: 20 3/4" - 50th percentile

Head circumference: 37 1/2 cm - 50th percentile

 

Very nomal.  Also, can I just brag for a minute?  This boy is tough.  The nurse and doctor has to poke and prick him for some blood tests.  Not one tear.  No, sir.  It didn't even phase him.  I am so proud!

 

Happenings of this week:

*On a not-so-happy note, Beckham hates baths.  This has been one of the only times he has cried - literally screamed at me.  Because he gets so mad, I don't like to give him a bath by myself.  Jason is always there to assist.  Hopefully one day he will enjoy bath time.

*We met Great Grandma Merdith.  Beckham was extatic, as you can tell.  Grandma told us that Beckham made 57 great grandchildren for her.  What a blessing.

*Beckham loves to get his cloths off.  He is one content baby with only a diaper on.

*Beckham also loves his play time.  He lays on the floor and will kick and kick.  He looks around intently at everything around him.  It makes me wonder what he is thinking.

*Dad spoils him.  Seriously.

He is sure a good little boy and we love him to pieces!

So this is us prior to the baby.  Actually, this picture is of us when I was in labor and feeling great.  Very alive and lots of energy.

 

 

Fast forward a mere two weeks later, and we are dead tired!  This is Jason zonked out on the floor while he was "watching" Beckham.  For being only 7 lbs and 11 oz, he wears us out!

This has really been an adjustment for us, especially for me.   Thank goodness I have a wonderful husband who has been helping me out.  He has been getting up with Beckham at night too so that I can get some sleep.  But, we are starting to notice the affects on both of us due to the lack of sleep.  I apparently have taken up snoring.  Lovely.  Jason has been sleep walking and talking about the baby.  (He has even gotten out of bed thinking that there is an invisable baby in his arms that needs feeding.  This has happened now for three consecutive nights.  Too funny!)  Geez!  Who knew that having a baby would do this?

you've had a birthday

...shout HOORAY! Jason celebrated his 25th birthday. It's official. A quarter of a century old. Wow. Happy Birthday honey.

Jason gets to share the special day with our nephew, Casen. Here they are with their birthday cake.

week one

We have a one week old baby at this house! It really has been such an adjustment for everyone, but Beckham is such a blessing. We sure love him and think he is the best baby. Here are some highlights for the week.

* Jason and I love to just sit and watch Beckham. He has some of the funniest facial expressions. He is not much of a crier (...yet), but his face will tell you exactly what he is thinking.

* Beckham is already back up to his birth weight! What a growing boy. Apparently, he was not expected to be back up until his 2 week check up. However, by day 5, he had it all gained back.

* We swaddle Beckham before he goes to sleep. Isn't he cute?

* Beckham tried out the car seat. He's not too sure about it yet. He does very well for the first little bit, but he would rather not be strapped in to anything.

* This picture shows how our Beckham like to strech out. He prefers to have his hands above his head or by his face. Also, he likes the binkie. Mom and Dad are not too sure if we like him to be so attached. He is also very particular about the type of binkies he has. We have now tried three different types, and only one will do. He like the hospital Soothie binkie.

* Daddy and Beckham. So cute. Beckham sure knows who his dad is and loves when Daddy comes home. Jason will hold him and just talk to Beckham about his day. Beckham loves to hear Dad talk to him. He will just stare had at Jason for a long time and try to take in every word. It is pretty precious.

* This is a picture from Sunday. The boys in their Sunday attire. Darling.

* We have had tons of visitors this week. Beckham has met almost all of his cousins now. Thanks to everyone who came to visit! Beckham loved it!

We made it through the first week and now it is on to the next! Another update to come.

Beckham is such a good little boy and we feel so blessed to have him!
