Beckham turned 5 months old on Friday. Since I didn't complete his 4 month blog post (it has just been too busy around here), I decided to combine it into this one. So here is what Beckham has been up to the last two months. It is a little long....sorry.
*Beckham started solid food. We began with rice cereal shortly after his 4 month checkup when the doctor gave us the go-ahead. He is now eating rice cereal, oatmeal cereal, sweet potatoes, and yummy green beans. Next week we will start a new food.
*Speaking of eating, Beckham eats between 4 and 5 times a day. I think he will be dropping this sometimes random fifth feeding any day now.
*Beckham is now trying to hold his bottle when he eats, rather than my fingers. Sometimes he gets so excited that when he grabs for it, he pushes the bottle away. Other times he enjoys the milk so much that his little hand just gently caresses the bottle.
*He still likes the binkie and he now likes to take it out. He recently figured that one out and now he does it all the time!
*He has been rolling over from his tummy to his back for a while now. However he still does not do it with a purpose, so if Mom or Dad wants him to roll on command, he won't do it.
*Also, Beckham is getting very good at playing on his tummy. He holds his head up very well and even moves himself from one direction to another with his tummy as an anchor. So funny to watch.
*This little boy is talker. He LOVES to sit and talk to us when we get home from work. When he talks to Jason, he always touches and rubs Jason's face. At first I thought Beckham just liked the feel of Jason's facial hair, but that's not it. He just knows it is his Daddy.
*Beckham enjoys his play time. He generally plays with a few toys in the ground, and he has a favorite. His toy of choice is plastic chain. They have different textures on each and he loves to put them in his mouth.
*He also likes story time. We usually read a few books before we have a bedtime bottle. He pays attention to every book, but his favorite is
I Love You Through and Through. Every time I open the book he oo's and awes like he has never seen it before, yet we read it on average 5 times a night. But no matter what we read, I am just glad he likes it.
*Beckham likes to be part of everything we do. He is not as content to merely sit and watch us. He like to sit at the dinner table with us, help make the dinner, and help clean. It gets a little difficult to carry him around all the time. The other night, Jason was cleaning the bathroom with Beckham's help and this was what I found. I think we just have a helper on our hands.
*Mr. B has taken a liking to his fingers. He munches and chews on them, particularly the thumb. I am trying to change that.
*Also, he has a bad habit of scratching his face. I swear I clip his fingernails all the time and he still manages to leave scratch marks on his face.
*So Beckham has been doing a funny thing every time we give him loud kisses on his cheeks. It is almost like he tries to kiss us back. He opens his mouth and pushes his face into our cheeks. It is particularly sweet when I come I pick him after work and he does this for a few minutes into my cheek. He missed me! He does the same thing to Daddy at home. So sweet.
*When Beckham gets excited, he squeals and clasps his hands together right under his chin. It is pretty funny to watch.
*Beckham hates to get dressed. When the clothes come off, he squeals with excitement. And when they come back on, he screams and yells with anger. I even have to sing songs while we get dressed to distract him.
*We cuddle at bed time. It is so sweet and one of the highlights of my day. After I feed him his final bottle, I put him on my shoulder to burp, and we usually falls right asleep all cuddled up in my arms. It is the best!
He is a sweet boy and I sure feel grateful we have him in our little family.
