Jason's birthday #27

Beckham still thinks that it is his birthday.  The whole idea of Daddy having his own birthday rocked his world a little bit, and it took a little convincing.  By the end of the day, I think Beckham was okay with the whole idea.  

This year we actually celebrated Jason's birthday a day before the big day.  We had a special dinner of steak and shrimp (my first time cooking them!) per his request.  It's kind of a big deal to make this kind of a dinner because the stakes are a bit high.  My husband loves steak and shrimp with his whole soul and it was his birthday!

Jason's family came over to celebrate with us.  Beckham was sure that they were there for him and his birthday.  He loved being the center of attention.  We had Jason's usual ice cream cake and he blew out candles in the shape of 2-7.  

For his birthday, Jason requested that his gifts be things that he could play with Beckham.  Isn't he sweet?!  Some of his gifts included nerf guns and the Spider-Man movie.  Beckham thought these were fantastic and immediately named them "mine!"  These boys are already enjoying the toys.

Unfortunately, Jason had to work the very next day on his birthday and things went on as usual.  We are certain though that we are the luckiest to have Jason in our lives!

5 years

A mere three days after Beckham's birthday, Jason and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary.  Jason sent a beautiful bouquet of flowers to me (how sweet!), and we shared a delicious dinner that night in Twin Falls.  It is crazy to think about how much has changed for us, but of this I am certain, I am happy to have been with Jason these last five years.

On Saturday we began celebrating Beckham's birthday. He is 2!

We had a nice little party Saturday night and Beckham was delighted to have some fun visitors. Grandma and Grandpa Hall came. We also had our Nanna, aunts, and Kayson and Kyler there. 

He was spoiled rotten with gifts

and we enjoyed a superhero cake. It was a perfect night.

Beckham's actual birthday was less than eventful. Dad went to work, and mom and Beckham stayed at home playing. To be fair, Beckham got his way all day long. We even had "black juice" -- root beer -- for breakfast. Beckham also requested pancakes, toast, o-meal, Cheetos, fruit snacks, candy, and cereal for lunch. Yeah. That didn't happen. 

We opened a few more gifts, ate leftover cake, and sang Happy Birthday countless times. It was a good day.  However, we did end the day with Beckham throwing a tantrum in his new batman pajamas because he could not bear the thought of going to bed. I guess that means he thought his second birthday was fun. 

Summer Recap

Summer flew by this year!  A lot has happened to our family this summer so here is a little recap.

We moved.....and are still trying to get our house together.  One day.  One day.

Beckham got a big boy bed.

We enjoyed playing outside in our yard.  Beckham particularly loved playing with the hose and getting wet.  We have made some good memories in the back yard.

And most of those memories in the back yard include Beckham shirtless.  Boys will be boys. 

Our family made a few spontaneous trips to see family in Utah

and we had some come to visit us!  We still talk about seeing everyone.

Beckham got his first pet.  It was two fish.  Sparkle and Snowflake.  They didn't last long.

Beckham and I visited Sun Valley (which is worth noting since it is one of my absolute favorite places to be).  We visited Grandpa, who was attending the Bankers Convention - he was the Chairman this year.  Fancy.  We explored the pretty area and I found that Beckham loved the river.  He tossed rocks in it for a long time.

Although I don't have pictures to prove it, we have gone swimming, but only a handful of times.  Beckham is a little fish and loves to be in the water - especially with Daddy.  They put their faces in the water and blow bubbles.  We hope to make it to the pool again before it closes for the winter.

Also, Beckham had the opportunity to ride his first train.  Well.  To be fair, it was just a lawn mower pulling carts.  It was dressed up like a train - conductor and all.  It was fun nonetheless and Beckham took his role very seriously as a passenger.

We attended a few county fairs.  It is a big deal around these parts.  Everyone looks forward to and attends the fair and rodeo.  Beckham found his happiest place on Earth by the animal pens.  He made sure to wave and say hello to every animal.  It was, "Hi, horse.  HI, HORSE!" over and over again.  It think he was trying to get some type of response from the animals.  He l.o.v.e.d. it and wanted to stay there for hours.  I kind of think we have a little 4-H boy in the making.

Summer, we loved having you here and are already looking forward to you coming back!

4th of July 2014

Another 4th of July has gone down in the books. We were happy to celebrate in Lewiston.

Beckham thoroughly enjoyed himself at the parade - scarfing down as much candy as humanly possible. 

 

We also attended the famous Red, White, and Blue Party and Beckham broke out his swim suit for the first time this summer. I think he really liked playing with the other kids in the water. 

It was a day full of fun, and our boy was happy to really be part of the activities this year.  I am hopeful that he will soon love this day just as much as I do.

the wedding

We attended a beautiful wedding in June for my brother, Court, and Whitney.

Our little boy had never been to a wedding ceremony, and we learned real fast that it is a bit difficult for Beckham to sit still, no matter what the occasion.  I had great plans to take lots of pictures, but only got a few, because I was wrestling this one (and so was Jason - it's a team effort!).

The next evening was a small open house and I actually got a bit more photos than the ceremony. 

We are so happy for these two. They are perfect for each other.  Congratulations to (in the words of Beckham) Court and Whit!

a house

It has been a long time coming, but we moved!  The past few months have been complete and utter chaos.  Our little family has been living here, there, and everywhere while we were waiting to close on a house.  Living out of a suit case is no my idea of fun, but we enjoyed our time with the family that we stayed with.  In June, Jason and I finally closed on our first home...

and we are so happy to have a place of our own.
